LIVE WELL, LIVE BLESSED
Human Potential or HUPOT is one of the exciting brands pioneering South Korean style with Collections filled with unapologetic coolness. Masters at illustrating nonchalant and laidback vibes, HUPOT is a brand to covet. Founded by designers Dowon Kim and YK Rebekah Kim, the duo collectively launched the fashion label in 2008 after studying at Parsons. When asked about the name of the brand the designers said, “The meaning of HUPOT is to express that the potential of humans is unlimited and everyone can achieve their dreams.”
Shortly after appearing at Bread & Butter, a trade show in Berlin a year after graduation, HUPOT began to export globally to countries such as Japan, China, and Hong Kong, whilst simultaneously creating their online platform that ships worldwide. The brand’s original identification translated as simple tees and leggings, which the pair kept clean and minimalist, along with their general lines and shapes, which are enriched with exaggerated volumes and include superposition’s of skirts to pants and perfecto vests.
HUPOT which is produced in Seoul, South Korea transpires as a fusion of graphic prints, which radiate a simplistic statement, along with bold silhouettes and has an emphasis on high-end athleisure which attracts celebrity clientele. Throughout each collection, HUPOT adopts the creative concept of “The Light That Balances The Dark”, an ethos that appears open to artful reinterpretation.
“Our clothes are wearable from young to old. However, when we design we focus on the youth, artists, and cultural flow.” With reference to where they extract their creative nature from, the duo emphasis, “our inspiration is drawn from the Bible, philosophy, and classic literature…and our main focus in production is quality before quantity.”
