JORDACHE X LaQuan Smith FW 2020
Words By: Katie Farley
This is the second fashion collaboration for design houses Jordache and LaQuan Smith, presenting a collection of co-branded denim pieces, which comes on the heels of their successful Spring 2020 partnership. Their latest fashion collection launches next month exclusively at FORWARD by Elyse Walker in the US and at Luisaviaroma in Europe.
A series of black denim dominated the Fall Winter 2020 line up, with alluring looks that include super short and midi dresses, formal fitting jeans, bustier tops as well as denim for men. The collection illustrates LaQuan Smith’s unapologetic, extravagant, and glamorous aesthetic, which transcends as his signature style and portrays an aura of sensuality, confidence, and elegance. These looks are perfect when seeking an empowering denim statement for daytime or a sexy, night-time vision.
“We have been following LaQuan’s rise in fashion and are big fans of his designs,” says Liz Berlinger, President of Jordache. “He always has a modern take on nostalgia so we knew he would be able to take the essence of what made our brand the must-have denim that defined the 70s and 80s and interprets it for today’s customer.”
“I admire Jordache’s history and their approach in making denim sexy” shares designer LaQuan Smith. “I’ve always been inspired by the nostalgia of denim and how it’s so timeless. Huge honor to work with the best.”
The collection drew inspiration from super tough, modern women, who have suffered from a broken heart and are prepared to recapture their buoyancy and badness. Blunt fringes and onyx-stained lips were on the designer’s muse, spotlighting a glamorous woman who is audacious enough to dress up in the middle of the day to run errands “as a boss woman should.”

The racks of clothes backstage were bursting with garments that were wholeheartedly a scene of black – catsuits, party dresses, matching separates, killer outerwear pieces in velvet, chic nylons, sexy leathers, and luxe embellishments, with the addition of white and metallic statement items. “I’M MOVING OUT” were the words emblazoned on an enormous fur bag, along with a black tee-shirt illustrating a renowned, uncivilized line by Tony Montana in the film “Scarface” that was difficult to ignore.
Every look throughout the bold collection screamed femme fatale, exhibiting a series of some seriously sensual and seductive outfits that truly encapsulated all that is sorry-not-sorry glamour.
