Days of Burmese Wonder
Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is as magical as Kipling & Orwell told. From the sacred Shwedagon Paya in Yangon to the mystical fog setting on Inle lake, Myanmar is full of life. From the very first step, you can feel the sanctity in the humidity as ceremonial smells of prayer incense fill your nostrils. The country may have been cut off from the rest of the world for decades but today the isolation of Myanmar feels more like a gift of quiet tranquility. Shaky wi-fi signals, empty beaches and raw heritage sites, Myanmar is what the Thai Peninsula probably was about 30-40 years ago. The country is constantly evolving and adapting since its ruling military junta was dissolved in 2010 and though not all is quiet on the Burmese front, Myanmar captivates you with its light, dust, glittering pagodas and curious hospitality.
