Fahrelnissa Zeid

Fahrelnissa Zeid was a significant figure in the Turkish Avant-Garde Group in the early 1940s and in the Ecole de Paris in the 1950s. Living between London and Paris in the 50s, the artist experimented with different techniques such as painting with chicken and turkey bones. Her exploratory work became renowned pieces of art, with influences from Islamic, Byzantine, Arab and Persian art combined with European aesthetics.

The artist was an investigator, as she has artworks varying from still-life, to abstract paintings. With her mesmerising patterns and designs, Fahrelnissa Zeid became one of the greatest female artists of the 20th Century.
